Santa Clarita, CA (July 12, 2022) – A man suffered critical injuries when he was involved in a severe traffic accident in Santa Clarita. The incident was reported on Tuesday, July 12 at approximately 9:15 a.m.
Reports indicate the 69-year-old male victim was ejected and struck by his own car during a three-vehicle crash while he was attempting to stop his vehicle from rolling away from a gas station.
His car was rolling away from the gas station when he ran after it in an attempt to jump in and stop it, however, he got halfway into his vehicle and accidentally hit the gas, which reversed the vehicle into traffic.
Another car then struck his vehicle and, at some point during the impact, he was ejected and run over by his own car. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and listed in critical condition.
Police continue to investigate the details of the incident. Paramedics and firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were sent to the scene at approximately 9:15 a.m. One injured patient was transported by ambulance to a local hospital at approximately 9:30 a.m., sources said.
The scene was active with responders until after 11:00 a.m., causing significant delays in traffic. Nothing further has been reported at this time.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured victim.

Driver intoxication, distraction, and fatigue lead to thousands, if not millions of vehicle accidents every single year that injure and take the lives of thousands of people.
