Porter Ranch, CA (June 10, 2022) – A large portion of the freeway in Porter Ranch was closed for an extended period of time on Friday, June 10 due to a car crash. The wreck took one life and injured several others, according to reports.
Sources say the collision occurred just before 11:45 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway, east of Reseda Boulevard. A vehicle occupied by a family of five drove off of the road and into an embankment before crashing into a fuel line.
The second crash caused the vehicle to catch on fire, resulting in major damage. The LAPD SWAT team managed to rescue four people from the burning vehicle, though the mother lost her life at the scene.
She was identified as a 31-year-old woman from Northridge. All other occupants were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Three of them were believed to be children.
Police in Porter Ranch continue to investigate the details of the incident.
