California Pedestrian Accidents
Nearly 500 people lose their lives per year in pedestrian accidents in California. In 2020, 463 people were killed in pedestrian crashes in the Golden State. Throughout the nation, approximately 6,700 people lose their lives per year due to fatal pedestrian collisions. Unfortunately, one of the main reasons pedestrian collisions take place is due to driver negligence.
All drivers have a shared duty to treat their fellow drivers with respect and care to ensure everyone stays safe on the roads we share. Sadly, there are copious amounts of negligent drivers on the roads and highways throughout the United States. Their mistakes often lead to injuries for innocent victims, such as brain injuries, broken bones, or even death. Those who choose to drive negligently needlessly endanger the lives of every person on the road. For this reason, they need to be held accountable for the crashes they cause.
At the Mines Law Firm, our Los Angeles pedestrian crash lawyers in Los Angeles are here to assist the injured victims of careless, reckless, and negligent drivers to recover financial compensation for their suffering. Most injured pedestrians suffer a great deal while they are forced to endure invasive medical procedures and sometimes even surgery in order to fully recover. In some cases, victims are never able to make a full recovery and must spend the rest of their lives dealing with a disability of some sort.
When you or someone you love has been hurt in a pedestrian accident that was caused by the negligence of another person, you may qualify for financial compensation. The law in California says that those who are harmed in motor vehicle accidents caused by negligent drivers have the option to hold the wrongdoers accountable by filing a personal injury claim against them. This will legally hold the negligent party liable for their actions. A motorist convicted of careless driving can face fines and even jail time.
