California Pedestrian Accidents
More than 150,000 people are injured in auto accidents throughout the state of California each year. A percentage of those who are injured in these wrecks are not even inside vehicles at the time of their accidents. Pedestrians are constantly traveling along sidewalks and roadways in the Golden State. As a result, they often become involved in traffic accidents.
Tens of thousands of people are sent to area medical centers with injuries due to these accidents. They receive emergency medical treatment for their injuries and are often forced to stay in the hospital for a lengthy period of time in order to recover. Depending on the type of collision, the chances of serious and life-threatening injuries can be higher.
Pedestrian accidents are more likely to leave victims with severe injuries such as broken bones, brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries. This is because pedestrians are vulnerable while traveling without protection. Serious injuries sustained in pedestrian accidents usually require extensive medical treatment. Oftentimes, auto accidents are the result of negligence. These wrecks can occur because of people texting and driving, speeding, drunk driving, and generally engaging in distracted driving. When victims are injured in accidents as a result of negligent drivers, they should consult with a pedestrian accident attorney in California as soon as possible.
