California Truck Accidents
Semi-trucks are the giants of the road. The average commercial truck is about 25 times heavier than your average passenger vehicle. Becoming involved in a traffic accident with a big rig can be terrifying. Oftentimes, those injured in commercial truck crashes suffer such severe injuries that they are stuck in the hospital for weeks or longer. Occasionally, these accidents are so severe that injured victims lose their lives due to the extent of their injuries.
Over 2,900 people are injured in truck accidents throughout the state of California every year. Semi-trucks can weigh up to 80,000 pounds with a full load. When a fully loaded cargo truck becomes involved in a wreck with a much smaller passenger vehicle, those present in the passenger vehicle are most likely going to sustain severe injuries or even lose their lives.
The emotional, financial, and physical strain that injured truck crash victims face can be overwhelming and frustrating. Victims usually have to deal with steep medical costs, wage loss, and the cost of repairing or replacing their vehicle. When a person is hurt in a truck accident caused by negligence, a truck accident lawyer in Long Beach can help them recover financial compensation.
