California Car Accidents
California’s annual crash rate is higher than any other state in the nation. The highly populated Golden State sees approximately 400,000 vehicle collisions per year. These accidents leave close to 250,000 people with injuries and take the lives of about 3,500 people each year. Luckily, a large percentage of the accidents that take place in California each year are only fender benders. However, some of them do result in serious injuries or even death, as the statistics reveal.
Unfortunately, driver negligence is a leading cause of injury accidents in California. Many different forms of driver negligence exist, including intoxication, distraction, and fatigue. Over 1,000 vehicle accidents caused by drunk driving are reported in California per year. Approximately 30% of these collisions took the life of at least one person.
When people are hurt in car wrecks, they are often forced into the hospital for days, weeks, or even months at a time. Being stuck in the hospital can result in lost wages, which can cause stress and anxiety. Depending on the circumstances of your accident, you may be able to collect compensation for things like lost wages, emotional trauma, medical bills, and more.
