California Pedestrian Wrecks
More than 150,000 people are hurt in car accidents throughout California each year. Thousands of these injured victims are not even vehicle occupants, they are pedestrians. These pedestrians are traveling on roadways and sidewalks throughout California. Each year, tens of thousands of people are sent to hospitals with injuries due to pedestrian crashes in the United States. Over 6,000 lose their lives in these collisions every year. Injured pedestrians are often forced to stay in the hospital for a lengthy period of time while they receive emergency medical treatment in order to recover.
Due to most pedestrians being totally unprotected while traveling, pedestrian accidents are more likely to leave victims with severe injuries such as broken bones, brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries. All of these usually require extensive medical treatment. There are many instances where car accidents are caused by the negligence of others. These accidents can happen due to people texting or using cellphones while driving, drunk driving, speeding, ignoring traffic control devices, and engaging in unsafe driving behaviors. When victims are injured in accidents as a result of negligent drivers, they should consult with a pedestrian accident attorney in California as soon as possible.
