Newhall, CA (July 02, 2022) – The northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in the area of Newhall Pass were closed for hours on Saturday, July 2nd after a pedestrian was fatally struck on the freeway.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the crash took place at about 4:00 a.m. when officials from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were notified of a pedestrian being hit by a tow truck near Weldon Canyon Road.
The Supervising Fire Dispatcher stated that nobody received medical transport as the pedestrian was dead when crews arrived.
By 6:45 a.m., all northbound traffic into the Santa Clarita Valley was being redirected to Highway 14. All lanes were reopened at about 10:00 a.m.
