California Car Accidents
Over 150,000 people sustain injuries in car crashes throughout the Golden State each year. Thousands of those who are injured are not inside of vehicles at the time of their accidents. Instead, pedestrians are walking on sidewalks and alongside roadways throughout California.
Tens of thousands of people are sent to area medical centers with injuries due to these accidents. They receive emergency medical treatment for their injuries and are often forced to stay in the hospital for a lengthy period of time in order to recover. Depending on the type of collision, the chances of serious and life-threatening injuries can be higher.
Due to most pedestrians being unprotected while traveling, pedestrian accidents are more likely to leave victims with severe injuries such as broken bones, brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries. All of these usually require extensive medical treatment. There are many instances where car accidents are caused by the negligence of others. These accidents can happen due to people texting or using cellphones while driving, drunk driving, speeding, ignoring traffic control devices, and engaging in unsafe driving behaviors. When victims are injured in accidents as a result of negligent drivers, they should consult with a pedestrian accident attorney in Long Beach as soon as possible.
