Watts, CA (March 29, 2022) – Late on Saturday, March 26, a man lost his life in a motorized scooter accident. Officers with the California Highway Patrol responded just before 11:00 p.m.
The wreck occurred on the Imperial Highway near Grandee Avenue, according to reports. A driver, age 19, turned left onto Grandee and struck the man on the scooter.
What led up to the collision remains unknown at this time. The scooter driver was seriously injured in the accident and transported to an area hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Authorities later identified the deceased victim as a 40-year-old man, but his name has not been released. The 19-year-old driver remained at the crash scene and cooperated with the police.
Police officers in Watts continue to investigate the details of the accident. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
