California Pedestrian Accidents
Approximately 900 pedestrians are killed in traffic accidents each year in California. As time goes on, the number of people traveling on foot and on bicycles continues to increase. For this reason, it comes as no surprise that the pedestrian-fatality rate in California is on the rise. In fact, it is approximately 25% higher than the national average. Regardless of the extent of actions taken to protect pedestrians in the Golden State, the number of pedestrian fatalities continues to rise each year.
Oftentimes, pedestrians are hit by cars that are operated by impaired or distracted drivers. Although most people are mindful when it comes to looking out for pedestrians, not everyone is this way. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that everyone is always going to take pedestrians into consideration while traveling. For this reason, pedestrians must always be vigilant in looking out for motorists, especially while crossing roadways. We see numerous people fatally injured in accidents in California that could have been prevented. These accidents often have an overwhelming impact on families who are left to endure the mental, physical, and financial challenges of an unexpected loss.
